NASA GEWEX Surface Radiation Budget

The World Climate Research Programme's (WCRP) Global Energy and Water Exchanges (GEWEX) program is an integrated program of research, observations, and science activities with the mission to "Observe, understand and model the hydrological cycle and energy fluxes in the Earth's atmosphere and at the surface."

The NASA/GEWEX SRB project is a key component of the GEWEX global data project portfolio. The objective of the NASA/GEWEX SRB project is to determine surface, top-of-atmosphere (TOA), and atmospheric shortwave (SW) and longwave (LW) radiative fluxes with the precision needed to describe the long-term mean and variability of the components of the surface radiation budget and understand its contribution to the energy and water cycles of the planet.
